What Alternatives Are There To Leathers While Riding And Footwear Other Then Huge Boots?
Please don’t preach to me about safety because im sure that there are plenty of people that don’t wear leathers or motorcycle boots. Is there anything else that can be worn mainly on legs and feet that you can wear around town for example but that also has protection. Thanks for your answers.
I usually ride with a black denim jacket by Cortech – has all the protection that leather has because of the denim and all the padding on elbows, shoulders and back
I have ridden with it during 90F which is pretty hot but as long as I am moving the open flaps provide great ventilation!!!
Boots? The best protection they provide is on the ancles so you cannot really replace that with anything else – but they don’t have to be heavy. Check out some of the Dr. Martees – they are one of my favourite boots out there
There are many types of jackets out there other than leather, if safety is a big issue then get one with elbow, shoulder and back armour. For pants there are several brands of Kevlar reinforced jeans on the market. As far as shoes are concerned something that comes above the ankle is best and you need a sole that isn’t slick. But really if you just don’t want to wear boots that’s your call. If I go down on a road bike I can live with a broken ankle but I don’t want a serious case of road rash on my back or butt so to me the jacket and pants are more important.
T-shirt, Jeans, 9″ boots, Leather jacket in the saddle bag. Worked for me for 50 years, and still works. Most of the wardrobes I see people wearing today is mostly show time attire. Head to toe color matching leather, body armor, helmets the size of 5 gal. buckets, great big gloves, etc, etc. Motorcycle cops don’t even wear all that stuff. Get comfortable and enjoy the ride.
ive seen some nice, futuristic mesh body suit’s with built in protection…they look awsome…as for the feet,ALWAYS wear boots…not nessaserly big crosser boots but some of the shorter sidi boots give ample protection…
