When You Wear High Heels, Are You Supposed To Step On The Ball Of Your Foot Then Your Heel, Or Heel First?
I am wearing heels instead of sneakers for the first time in years. I’m trying to use good posture but my gait feels really off. I seem to be naturally stepping first on my heels, then moving my weight forward onto my toes, as if I’m still wearing sneakers. Do you naturally put your weight more towards the front of your feet instead of all over or your heels when you wear high heels? I love my shoes but don’t know how to walk in them!
in the movie miss congeniality its heel toe, heel toe.
i think i usually put the weight in the front first because you can balance better, but i would say you should practice at home first that way you will look more comfortable:0)
if you walk on your tippy toes, you might tip over, so i suggest heel then toe. but, dont walk heavy on your heels cause it would look weird.
Oh yes…it really is hard isn’t it?
Whenever you walk it anything, it’s always heel-toe, but for highheels you have to think of it a little differently. You’re still putting the foot down heel first and then rocking your weight down until the toe is down, but do it with less angle. What i mean is when you walk, stop right when your heel hits the floor. You’ll see there is an angle between the floor and your foot. Drop your foot until there is only about 1-3 from your toe to the floor. THAT is the angle your foot should be at when the heel hits the floor when you start. Then follow through with your normal step. Lots of practice in your heels will help you smooth out your walk. It will look less harsh and you’ll walk with a smaller step, which will look delicate and elegant. Good luck =] I hope I helped!
Walk normally (heel to toe) but once you are planted you will put more of your weight on the ball of the foot (as it is lower than your heel and gravity will push your weight towards it).
Quick tips:
• Don’t go with too high a heel so you can get used to them. Start with a couple inches then work your way up.
• Try wearing something that secures your heel to the shoe (like a strap or wear a high-heeled boot). This way you can get used to your gait (it will be smaller) without worrying about having wobbly ankles.
• Don’t wear something that it too tight on your toes or has your toes slipping off the front edge. You don’t need blisters.
• Try on BOTH shoes and walk in them to find your size. I tend to wear a 9.5 sneaker but depending on the heel and the manufacturer I can wear a 8.5.
• Make sure you have a sturdy heel at first. You’re going to have to learn to adjust where you put your weight. Wedges are great to learn to walk in.
Hope this helps! Happy shoe shopping!
ball then heal, you have to glide
just walk normally and you’ll get the hang of it
Your legs should move more like sissors, and keep your knees and you butt tight. Do land on the balls of your feet first, practice, practice, practice!!!
You should have a short, choppy feminine stride. That stride will force your behind to wiggle and it will all come together.
heel , toe, fo sho(:
